Do I need insurance?

Consultations are accepted with insurance or by self-pay.

Dr Kidambi works with the following insurers: Aetna, Alliance, AVIVA, AXA PPP, BUPA, Cigna, Vitality Health and WPA.

Please check with your insurers in advance of booking, as they may require pre-authorisation.

Do I need a GP referral?

It is preferable to get a GP referral for a specialist consultation, as this helps give Dr Kidambi more background health information to focus on the most pressing issues during the consultation.

If you have already seen Cardiology services elsewhere, please let us know at the time of booking if you would like us to obtain a copy of your records.

Consultations can be arranged without a GP referral. Dr Kidambi may ask for your permission to review your GP records if relevant.

How long will I have to wait for my consultation?

In most cases, an appointment at the Nuffield can be given within 1 week.

Can I see a cardiologist if I don’t feel unwell?

Prevention is better than cure.

Many of our patients come for healthy heart checks, if they have previously had heart problems, or are worried about a history of heart disease in the family.

Dr Kidambi can provide healthy heart checks, long term follow up of many chronic heart diseases and screening for heart disorders that run in families.

Can I have an appointment out of hours?

We will help to find a convenient time for your consultation.

Evening appointments are available by arrangement. Please contact us to discuss your availability.

What does a consultation involve?

Dr. Kidambi will listen to your story and ask questions that will help understand the problem and create a plan to manage the condition. He will answer any questions you may have, and arrange any further tests if you wish. He can advise about medications and issue private prescriptions if required.

Towards the end your consultation, Dr Kidambi will either recommend discharge, further tests, a further consultation and/or referral to the NHS.

All options will be discussed so you clearly know the plan moving forward.

You will receive a copy of your medical report, which will also be forwarded to your GP.

Is this going to cost a lot?

For consultation fees, please see the pricing page.

We are always mindful of the costs, and are happy to advise on whether tests are strictly required or optional.

Many conditions need a single consultation- the benefit of seeing an experienced Cardiologist is that unnecessary tests are not considered.

Dr Kidambi will discuss the options with you, and full pricing of any recommended tests is available from his secretary.

Help! I don’t know what is going on!

If you have recently seen a doctor about your heart, and had a rushed or incomplete explanation, Dr. Kidambi can help. He can explain any investigations or treatments you may have received, giving you the time and space to ask any questions and fully understand. You are welcome to bring any documentation with you, and he can access health records in Leeds if required.
